Yantai is located on the Bohai Strait and the southern coast of the Korea Bay in the eastern Shandong Peninsular. The city of Yantai is made up of 4 urban districts and 5 state-level industrial zones including Yantai Economic and Technological Development Zone and Yantai Export Processing Zone. The city covers a land area of 13,700 sq. km and a sea area of 26,000 sq. km with a coastal line of 909 km. It is home to a population of 6.98 million (at the 2010 census). The city is famous for picturesque scenery, pleasant climate, and beaches.


Yantai has a temperate continental monsoon climate with long and cool summers. The average temperature of the hottest month is around 25 degrees Celsius. Rainy season occurs in July and August.


Natural Resources

Yantai is the largest fishing seaport in Shandong. The city also has 1/6 of gold ore reserve and accounts for 1/5 of the gold production in China.



Yantai is currently the second largest industrial city in Shandong. The region’s largest industry is agriculture.  Yantai Port is also one of the main pivotal ports in the coastal area of China.

Yantai is famous throughout China for a particular variety of apple, big cherry, and pears and is home to the country’s largest and oldest grape winery (Changyu). The county-level city of Longkou is well known throughout China for its production of cellophane noodles.

Yantai Economic and Technological Development Area

The area houses a population of approximately 115,000. It lies on the tip of the Shandong Peninsula facing the Huanghai Sea. It is strategically located next to downtown Yantai, merely 6 km. to Yantai Port, 6 km. to Yantai Railway Station, and a 30-minute drive to Yantai International Airport.


Yantai Export Processing Zone (YTEPZ)

YTEPZ is one of the first 15 export processing zones approved by the State Council. The total construction area of YTEPZ is 4.17 sq. km. At present, with a completed infrastructure in place; it now houses standard workshops (120,000 sq. m.) and bonded warehouses (40,000 sq. m.). With an ideal investment environment, YTEPZ has attracted investors both from foreign countries and regions such as Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Sweden, USA and Canada.
